NACED is the National Association of Community and Comprehensive Directors, who organize and run, Adult Education in their Schools
Since the establishment of Community and Comprehensive Schools in the late 1960s and 70s Adult Education was seen as an integral part of these new Schools; where the provision of Second Chance, and Continuing Education was nurtured by the emerging Boards of Managements
NACED was formally inaugurated in 1974 It supported and encouraged Directors and their Assistants nationally. The Association encouraged the expansion of the role of the Adult Education Director.
Today NACED has a Membership of 55 which comprise of both Community and Comprehensive schools, It is run on a voluntary basis ,relying on the energies and enthusiasm of its members. It is structured by its Constitution and is guided by ACCS and The Department of Education and Science (See history of NACED)
